Living With Katie
2008-08-18 - 11:39 a.m.
I have been a living, human girl for nearly eighteen years now, and a make-up wearing one at that for around four of these years but still, still I have not learnt that when you have mascara and eyeliner on that YOU SHOULDN'T RUB YOUR BLOODY EYES! I am part girl, part panda. It is not an attractive look.
Luckily I have nothing planned for today except maybe a bit of lunch and then telly-watching before work later so it doesn't matter too much I suppose. This has actually been the first day in a week or so that I haven't really had anything to do. Yes, my reason for not updating in over a week is thus: I've been doing stuff! Stuff and things. Quite unusual for me, especially during the summer holidays. Most of last week was spent living with Katie as her parents were away in glamorous Wales. Of course a week in a free house with us two crazy cats should have been wild, however with two of our dearest chums, Katie's boyfriend, and several other of our accquaintances all choosing that week to be on holiday, it was not really so. We spent our week sleeping in very late after promising every night to get up early in the morning to do exercise DVDs, walking her dog over the soggy common, having dinner at the local pub, watching lots of programmes about Ibiza, going shopping for cat food and alcohol, and not much else. On the Wednesday night we had indoor barbecue with a few people round, which was a bit of a laugh but meant that Katie was so hungover the next day that we couldn't be bothered to go out properly to celebrate our AS Level results and instead just rented a DVD and got a Chinese. Which I actually stupidly enjoyed (what's not to enjoy about Step Up 2 though!?)
Oh yes, the AS Level results came out Thursday. Having missed the GCSE results day last year due to my holiday with Spadey McBollockHead, I was quite excited by the whole rigmarole. Until I got into school that is, when I became inexplicably nervous. I don't know why, when they're only ASs but my, I was. I thought, as long as I get an A in English Lit then I'll be happy with Bs or maybe even a bit lower in the other two as I can just work really hard to get them up next year to get me into one of the unis I want. But I didn't need to worry at all as somehow, despite feeling massively unprepared for my exams and even going to my English without my books, I managed to get three As! I even got a B in General Studies. Begorrah. I was really pleased but also sort of massively embarrassed and really snobby feeling whenever anyone asked me how I did. I think I really need to get over that, but doubt I ever will.
On Saturday night I went with Rory to one of his friend's 18th birthdays. It was just a party round his massive massive oh-my-goodness massive house with all his friends and family, and it was lovely. I get very sentimental about these things sometimes. My friend Chris was there as well, as part of the 'friends of the family' brigade, which was lovely as I haven't seen him in ages. It was just a nice night in general. It's Kathy's 17th this week so we should hopefully be doing something to celebrate that at some point, and then on Sunday it is off to Ibiza! It's all go.
