Mis-Shapen Swamp Rat

2008-07-28 - 8:40 p.m.

Olivia's christening is just six days away now and to distract myself from worrying about if there will be any argey-bargey (alcohol and wide-spread resentment throughout and within both families do not a fun party make) and worrying more about the fact I am bringing both Rory and Katie with me to possibly bear witness to the argey-bargey, I have instead been focussing on my dress problems. I bought a dress a couple of weeks ago which was in itself a very nice dress - silver, strapless, pencilly-style dress with bow on the back. Absolutely charming. Unfortunately, due to my shoulders which are a bit broad and my boobs which are a bit non-existant, the dress didn't fit right and generally just looked a bit odd. My sister bought me one of those stick-on bra things in the hope it would give me a bit more shape and general oomphy-ness and whilst it does, the fact remained that the dress just didn't work on my funny little body shape. I bet Gok could fix it for me, as he can fix anything, but Gok was not to hand so today I went in search of another dress. And whilst the one I eventually opted for - after a few sweaty trips to the changing rooms - is black and not really very christening-like at all, it fits nicer and generally makes me look like less of a mis-shapen swamp rat. So today's been a success of a day in my eyes. Much better than if I had wasted my day doing something silly, like my Psychology coursework for example.

I have tonight off work, which is very exciting. Sadly it's only because a girl asked me to swap shifts with her so I'm working her Friday night instead. Still. Party time! No, not really, of course. I don't get to have any fun these days. I think we're meant to be going round Porkchop's house this Wednesday, which could be rather pleasant as we haven't really seen him since he left at the end of Year 11. Of course I never really liked him all through school but it's funny how once someone's gone you think it'd be really good to see them. Especially when he's having us round because his parents have gone away! After last year's party where his trampoline got broke and he had to pay about three-hundred quid to get a new one delivered before they came back, I consider this a very brave and possibly silly move. It could be a laugh anyway, Katie's bringing advocaat for us to drink. I don't know what advocaat is, but I shall soon find out.

Well this has been worth reading hasn't it.
